Light-emitting diode (LED) upstream die manufacturing company Cree released a press release on the 28th, according to a survey conducted by the market research firm Mindwave Research at the 2007 Hong Kong International Lighting Fair, 72% of respondents in the past 6 months The growth rate of LED lighting business within the company exceeded 20%. Cree’s news on the 28th rose 6.94% to close at $32.22, the highest since October 2, 2007.
According to the survey, 63% of respondents believe that LED products account for more than 50% of their company's revenue in 2009. In addition, respondents believe that the main applications of LEDs in the future are street/parking lighting (20%), home interior lighting (17%), retail display lighting (17%) and office lighting (15%).
The survey was conducted by key decision makers who participated in the 2007 Hong Kong International Lighting Exhibition. Nearly half of the respondents were from outside Asia. The survey was completed online and there were a total of 54 complete survey records.
