Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced that it has introduced a new "V" low-voltage power option for 10 of its TSOP infrared receivers to expand its optoelectronics portfolio to meet the lower operating voltage requirements of battery-powered consumer products. . The V series devices always maintain a stable sensitivity level when operating at supply voltages as low as 2V and temperatures ranging from +5°C to +85°C.
In an application using two alkaline cells, the typical discharge curve of the battery will drop from 3V to 2.5V with a load of 160mA for 3 hours. This means that standard receivers that can only operate at 2.5V will stop working. The discharge curve of a typical non-linear battery allows the receiver to operate for an additional 13 hours before the voltage drops to 2 V, so a receiver capable of operating at 2 V can extend useful battery life by more than four times.
Typical end-use products for Vishay's V-Series products include battery-powered, small handheld systems such as digital cameras, two-way remote controls, and 3D glasses. In order to further save energy in battery-powered systems, the receiver also has a standby function.
Vishay's TSOP series infrared receivers are available in 10 models in 6 packages with V options, including:
TSOP312..., TSOP313... and TSOP314...
TSOP38... and TSOP39 in MiniCast package...
Molded TSOP32... and TSOP34...
TSOP35 with standard SMD package...
TSOP75 in Heimdall Package
TSOP85 with bugeye package...
For ordering information, please refer to the V option data sheet on the Vishay website. V-Series infrared receivers are available now and have already been mass-produced, with lead times of four to six weeks for large orders.
