Entering 2018, the development of artificial intelligence has gradually shifted from technology to commercial landing, and industrial robots, as the ultimate carrier of technology presentation, have become the most competitive industry in 2018. There are currently more than 2,000 companies engaged in industrial robot applications in China, and there are about 500 companies that have the ability to provide overall solutions for overall industrial robot applications. This data is still changing all the time. This is like when you go to the street and see a few people picking up the fruit on the road. If you wait and see, you will think that the fruit is good, big and red, worth picking, so you join the picking team. There are more people picking up, and more people watching around, so more people picking up. Those who came in the front were sensible and knew why they had to pick them up, but most of the people who came to pick them directly didn't know the reason. The current robotics application business is similar to this scenario, where there are more people flocking to it, but less powerful. why? Because the current application technology of industrial robots has not yet been developed to the extent that any work can be replaced by robots, technical solutions are still the biggest hurdle in this industry.
Food delivery robots have been popular for several years, but if you look at the current Chinese catering market, there is no more than one finger for a restaurant without staff. Unmanned supermarkets are relatively better. There will always be several supermarkets in first-tier cities such as Super Species and Hema Fresh. However, these supermarkets still cannot be completely unmanned. This is true for the service industry, not to mention the automation industry with a combination of technology and intelligence. The online workers of many manufacturing companies are still the main production cost. They do not want to be replaced by robots, but cannot be replaced by robots yet.
There are generally three types of competitors we have encountered. The first type is cost-preserving, only mature technologies, such as welding, palletizing, and handling robot application integration business is relatively mature, not difficult, and a wide range of robot body selection. To put it bluntly, there is no difficulty in how to bake this cake, there is a difference in the temperature of each. The second type is high-risk. If you have mature technology, you can be happy. If you don’t have a mature technology, it’s not sad. If you don’t do business, you will be sick. The third type is robust, mature technology is used to feed the team, and immature technology is the direction of development, and it is sensible to challenge the difficulty. We are the third kind. Robot application business can really help companies solve their difficulties and difficulties. Big talk, lie, and bullshit are not suitable for this business. I once met a customer who made a surgical robot equipment similar to Da Vinci, and invited us to take a look. The robotic arm of the surgical robot is assembled manually, and the process is very complicated. The operating hand at the bottom is similar to a human hand, and the fingers move by fine wire traction. The assembly of the steel wire depends on people. They want to use robots to assemble and thread the wire. This project is very difficult, not to mention the small steel wire, the assembly sequence, strength, and angle have high requirements. However, these are not the biggest difficulties of this project. What is that? The challenge to human wisdom is the greatest difficulty. Most of the customers we met already have mature process operation sequence and requirements. The actions that are integrated and completed by personnel seem to be simple. Behind it is the summary of many intelligent people in this company. They believe that the most appropriate and best quality can be guaranteed. A set of process requirements and sequences. However, when considering changing to robots, we must first let customers understand that although robots and humans have human characters, robots have hands and no brains, perception but no sensation, movement but no sweat. These defects will inevitably require customers to change the process requirements or process sequence in the realization of the target. For example, in the aforementioned project, using robots to wear steel wires, we considered the feasibility of changing the dual-strand linkage to single-strand linkage, but the customer believes that the dual-strand linkage has been tested for many times and cannot be changed. Customers will have a certain degree of rejection in this type of change. To persuade customers to accept it, the results of experiments are needed to prove it. At this time, we must make the customers and us believe that there is no best, only better. Substituting robots must be better!
Currently, most of the robot integration applications focus on welding, spraying, handling, etc., and because the actions of manual assembly are more humane than other alternative actions, few companies are willing to invest their energy in doing it. Especially for very simple but very skilled actions to replace robots seems to have no advantage. For example, when manually assembling a ballpoint pen, the action is repetitive and single, and it is not difficult to judge the robot replacement from this point alone. But the speed of the robot is not as fast as that of a skilled worker. The speed at which I thread the needle is so fast! The robot is beyond the reach. But robots are not humans, so they don’t have to rest, eat, and they can keep working without being tired. This person is beyond reach. So to do machine integration applications, our experience is:
1. The robot is excellent, but not the best. Whether it can be replaced by a robot depends on three key factors: the trajectory of the manual action, the unity of the workpiece, and the repeatability of the operation. The three key factors are established at the same time, and the project is basically feasible. There is only one, which requires early-stage experimental input. Some customers are less interested in investing in research and development costs. This is okay. Don't reluctantly refuse to invest. As mentioned earlier, we are here to help people. So there is no need to persuade customers to do projects, but to impress customers with related or similar cases.
2. The goal determines the craft, not the craft determines the goal. Machine replacement not only saves labor, but also improves efficiency, quality, and accuracy. We have done a project. After the successful debugging and linkage, the efficiency improvement and manpower saving have been achieved, but the damage rate is high. This project cannot be called a success. Although the denominator and numerator are increased at the same time, the damage rate is actually lower, but from the absolute value, the damage rate is higher than that of manual operation. So we spent a lot of time on debugging, looking for the cause, and finally found that the higher damage rate was caused by man. The improvement of the previous process has led to an increase in the amount of labor for the next one. It is also worried that the people of the previous process have been replaced, and they are afraid that they will have this day and will deliberately do damage. Therefore, the success of the robotics application business depends on the realization of all goals. In terms of conceptual design ideas, it is easy to be led into a dead end by the existing process requirements. If I jump out of the window and look at the house, I will find that the layout of the house can still be changed. If I remove the bay window, I'm afraid I will be able to isolate a storage room. It is necessary to carry out the plan design with this kind of thinking.
3. The three criteria for selection are appropriateness, appropriateness, and appropriateness. Because it is an integrated application, it will be easier to grasp the advantages and disadvantages of various brands and the performance of various products. In the cost control of the plan, the client's budget is the upper limit, and the selection criterion is the lower limit. Imported or domestic robots, which electronic control system to use, etc., in the design of the plan, which can be omitted, which cannot be ignored, and which cannot be replaced, must be balanced standards. Some customers will give you a budget that surprises you. At this time, you must be calm. The robot application industry has not yet become a standard system, and most of them are non-standard. It is understandable for the client to give a budget outside the sky, and what we do is how to turn the client's budget into a specific investment. If you give you a million and do 500,000 things, anyone can do it, but if you give you 500,000 and 700,000 things, you just run away? With the landing and maturity of this industry, the profit margin will also be transparent. At this stage, it is not possible to learn and master the method of cost reduction. It is too late to look for rice when there is no food. Taking the best of each company, integrating its own solution technology, and providing customers with the right solution is the kingly way!
The application of industrial robots has both bitterness and sweetness. It is rejected, misunderstood, or ignored. When the sky is full of intelligence, my customers are still asking me what is smart manufacturing?
Yeah, what is intelligence? Are you using robots? Of course not. Robot applications are just a small step towards intelligent manufacturing, which is still the underlying application of basic equipment. But even at this small step, many companies hesitate to take this step and dare not try. Ten years ago I didn't know what a smart phone was. Five years ago, I didn't know that I could go shopping without my wallet. Three years ago, I didn't know that a lonely person could eat instant noodles in an unmanned supermarket.
